This package is for people who don’t just want the certificate — they want to leave Koh Tao feeling properly comfortable underwater.
It’s a smooth, guided plan over a few days, with clear coaching, good dive sites, and enough repetition that things start to feel natural (buoyancy, breathing, awareness, navigation… all the stuff that makes diving fun instead of stressful).

You can tailor it a bit

WHO CAN JOIN THE SSI OPEN WATER AND ADVANCED COURSE?
If you’re already certified and feel comfortable in the water, you’re probably ready. Here’s what you’ll need before starting — and if anything is unclear, just message us, and we’ll help you figure it out quickly.
Age
Minimum 10 years old. If your plan includes the Deep training dive, the minimum age is 12. (if not, we swap it for something suitable)
Medical
You’ll complete a quick medical questionnaire before diving.
If you answer “yes” to anything, you may need a doctor’s clearance — we’ll tell you exactly what’s needed.
Water skills
You can choose either the 200m swim or the 300m swim with mask/snorkel/fins, then it’s 10 minutes floating/treading water.
No time limit — steady and comfortable is perfect.

HOW MANY DAYS IS THIS PACKAGE?
Most people complete the package in 5 days.
We’ll always try to keep it smooth and well-paced, and we can sometimes adjust the order slightly around weather, boat schedules, and your plans.
DO I NEED ANY DIVING EXPERIENCE BEFORE?
No — this package starts with SSI Open Water, which is designed for complete beginners.
We take it step-by-step, starting in a calm training environment before moving into the ocean dives.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN THE PACKAGE?
Everything you need for both courses is included:
SSI online eLearning (Open Water + Advanced)
Confined water training
9 ocean dives total (4 Open Water + 5 Advanced)
All dive equipment, including a dive computer
Free accommodation at Echo Hostel (shared dorm) during the package (up to 5 nights)
Certification(s) at the end (see the certification FAQ below)
If you’d like photos or video, that’s optional and can be added anytime.
HOW DEEP WILL WE DIVE?
During Open Water, your dives are up to 18 metres once you’re ready.
With the Advanced course (including the Deep adventure dive), you’ll be certified to dive to 30 metres (age and conditions depending).
And don’t worry — we build up to depth gradually, and if someone isn’t comfortable yet, we’ll keep it sensible and focus on confidence first.
Can I fly after my last dive?
The general rule for flying after diving is to wait 12 hours after one dive, and 18 hours after two or more dives. If you went over your no decompression limits, or missed a safety stop on the dive, it is advised to wait 24 hours.

Do I get certified after the course?
You’ll earn your SSI Open Water Diver certification after the first part of the package (valid worldwide, for life).
The second part includes the SSI Advanced training dives. Depending on how it’s set up in your SSI account, you’ll either receive:
an Advanced Adventurer / Advanced Open Water-style certification, or
credit for the five adventure dives, which can count toward completing full specialties later.
