HOW YOUR SSI ADVANCED WRECK SPECIALTY COURSE WORKS

The SSI Advanced Wreck Specialty is one of the most popular specialty programmes on Koh Tao.
We have three different shipwrecks, which are perfect for beginners to start their wreck diving journey.

This course includes one academic session and four open water dives. Dives 1 and 2 focus on exploring the exterior of the wreck, planning your dive, and noting entry and exit points and potential hazards.
On dive 3, you will practise laying a reference line on the outside of the ship.
On dive 4, you’ll enter the wreck using a baseline and practise the skills you’ve learned.

Many of the ocean’s best dive sites are wrecks. These impressive structures attract high densities of marine life and give you the chance to immerse yourself in living history as you dive.

Advanced wreck dives are more deliberate and structured.
You’ll move slowly, follow clear plans, and focus on precision rather than distance or depth.
Every dive is different, depending on the wreck, conditions, and training goals —
but the emphasis is always on control, awareness, and calm decision-making.
